Review of the 2010 Toyota Avalon

2010 Avalon
Introduction
Avalon is a five-passenger family car and Toyota's flagship vehicle that comes fully loaded with posh amenities of luxury cars. The 2010 Avalon is offered in three grades, the standard XL, the extremely well-equipped XLS and the top-of-the-line Limited, which is comparable to near-luxury models for comfort and amenities. For 2010, the Avalon adds auto up/down power windows with jam protection to all four windows as standard safety equipment. It was previously equipped only on the driver and front passenger windows.
Exterior Design and Special Features
The Avalon has elegant exteriors and comfortable cabin packed with upscale features. The Avalon has few equals when it comes to luxury and style. Integrated front fog lamps come on all models except the XL, which gets 16-inch wheels; the other two models get 17-inchers. The rear of the car features a two-level trunk design with smoked taillights. High Solar Energy-Absorbing (HSEA) glass, Tinted taillamps and Heavy-duty rear window defogger with timer are standard in all trims. Dual rear exhaust outlets exhaust and automatic headlamps are also standard on all. The Limited has chrome door handles, while the other trims offer a compact keyless remote.
The XL and XLS models get a nine-speaker audio system with an MP3-compatible CD changer and auxiliary audio jack, the Limited gets JBL Synthesis AM/FM 6-disc in-dash CD changer with MP3/WMA playback capability, satellite radio-enabled, auxiliary audio jack, hands-free phone capability via Bluetooth wireless technology, 360 watts (maximum output) with 12 speakers including subwoofer, in-glass antenna, and FM diversity reception as standard.
A Voice-activated DVD navigation system is optional on XLS and Limited trims.
Engine
All 2010 Avalon models are powered by a DOHC 3.5-liter with 24 valve V-6 that cranks out 268 horsepower and 248 pounds-feet of torque. The engine utilizes variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i) and a dual-stage variable intake manifold. A six-speed electronically controlled automatic overdrive transmission with intelligence (ECT-i) and sequential shift is standard on all trims. The Avalon achieves an estimated EPA fuel economy rating of 19 MPG city/28 MPG highway.
Safety
The 2010 Avalon gets more standard safety features like electronic stability control, traction control and brake assist, driver's knee air bag, driver and front passenger airbags with advanced airbag system, front seat mounted side airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags, anti-lock brake system with electronic brake-force distribution.
